As someone who necessarily uses pre-clearance to get to the US, I much prefer it to having to go through it on arrival in the US.

Ah okay yeah suppose that is an advantage of flying Solo you can choose yourself. In Fairness Montreal To Portugal is a big divergence it's further than Montreal to Cancun lol. I haven't flown with TAP either if TAP is who you mean as can't think who TP would be.
