Filing 1040 and sales tax on airline tickets

Okay, this isn't Aadvantage related, but I didn't see a "TaxBuzz" forum to post this under. My apologies in advance to those easily offended by misplaced postings of this sort.

Since we are allowed now to claim sales taxes paid (or a portion thereof), I was thinking it would be a good idea to claim the taxes paid on airfare. Of course, only a portion of the taxes paid qualify as sales tax per se, but does anyone know how to calculate what that would be. Some of the e-ticket receipts I have show only the aggregate taxes and not a specific line-item breakout of what's what. Any thoughts? How are other FT'ers handling this new IRS offering? Thanks!
