1. Your profile does not show if you have Oneworld status or what class of travel you intend to fly, but be aware London City airport has no lounges, BA or otherwise, to enjoy before the flight.
2. For more information on ITA I would suggest looking at a few YouTube videos on the Matt's Planet channel. Here is a link for one that you may find useful as a starter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GS-N8GovvHA
I don't have any real OneWorld status I have BA Blue which everyone does because BA isn't really in a nearby regional airport so I usually use easyJet for European flights. If London City turns out to be nice though I could perhaps use it more again. I don't quite know how hard it is to go from Blue to Bronze imagine fairly easy. Not sure if my trip would even count for some of it as it would be covered by Aer Lingus.

I do like transatlantic on single aisle aircraft (flew Jet Blue LGW>JFK the year before). We were staying right outside Penn for a couple of nights and the NJ transit from EWR was painless enough, not sure which I prefer versus the air train and LIRR to be honest. Having passed through JFK a few times in the last couple of weeks, it's not my favourite airport to be honest (lounge was ok though).
Ah okay so I was told right then about Newark thanks for that information appreciate it. I would probably be going economy maybe business but might get a better hotel for this visit for Easter in New York next year.

Reading some of the threads here about BA lounges, it sometimes seems that the main downside of LCY is that it has no lounges, BA or otherwise, to complain about.
Honestly I've heard over the years it's quite a nice little airport from people who have flown out of there but I have never done it myself so wanted to try if I could.

As much as I try to avoid Stansted, I would still pick a direct flight from there over an LCY departure with a connection.
True I would be adding time to the flight journey but honestly wanted to try LCY for quite a while and this is certainly a way to try it. Plus I have wanted try a 321LR for transatlantic never done single aisle transatlantic and it might become more popular soon with the XLRs coming to carriers in next few years. Pre Clearance is a nice benefit of Dublin.

Yeah quite a bit of information needed and took a few months to get conditionally approved have my interview booked for September hopefully that goes well.
