I assume that SAS is hoping for a lot of Skyteam passengers, because a lot of Star Alliance passengers will NOT choose SAS anymore. And if SAS offends frequent flyers by not offering free baggage, there will probably be less reason for them to take SAS and they will choose Air France or KLM. Not a very far-sighted approach. Unfortunately.
Apart from that, SAS has answered the issue of “preferred seating” in a relatively vague to negative way. I suppose we will first have to find out how this is actually handled.
