Correct. If I paid $200 for my one way DL flight a long time ago but it was canceled and I then had to pay UA/AA $450 last minute to travel then I should get back $450. If DL only reimburses me for the $250 premium then I have to also get a refund back (or at least a DL ecredit) of my initial $200.
