This is quite doable if you don't have to wait for the car seat.
If you are on a single ticket, you should be protected to the next BLQ flight in case of delay of your JFK flight.

But it will be tight, especially if you JFK flight is delayed (typical delay is 10 to 20 min). I don't know how fast you can get your car seat if you gate check it.
