Going to be in serious need of a long nice vacation after all this......so curious on the process
Went through this with my mother's account in February and can say the advice below was still current then. I was looking for the email chain but might have contacted MP through the website. I think the stated timeline was 2 weeks but it happen quicker than that.
Update with the official AS response from Feb of this year.
Thank you for contacting Alaska Airlines Customer Care. I am so sorry for your loss and know that it is a difficult time for your family. Memorial miles can be gifted to the beneficiary or beneficiaries of the estate. In order to process this transaction, I will need a photocopy of the legal death certificate and the name and Mileage Plan number of the deceased and of the beneficiary(s). Please reply to this email and attach a scanned copy of the documents. The acceptable file formats are jpg, gif, png, tif, bmp, pdf. Email [email protected] and put in the subject:
Attn: memorial miles

Give them a copy of the death certificate as well as the needed AS mileage plan names and numbers for transferring from/to. In our case it was transferred spouce/spouce. No fees, it was done in about 24 hrs.

Again I can not say enough about how good Alaska was to work with.
