Went through this with my mother's account in February and can say the advice below was still current then. I was looking for the email chain but might have contacted MP through the website. I think the stated timeline was 2 weeks but it happen quicker than that.
Update with the official AS response from Feb of this year.

Memorial miles can be gifted to the beneficiary or beneficiaries of the estate. In order to process this transaction, I will need a photocopy of the legal death certificate and the name and Mileage Plan number of the deceased and of the beneficiary(s). Please reply to this email and attach a scanned copy of the documents. The acceptable file formats are jpg, gif, png, tif, bmp, pdf. You may also send a fax to 206-433-3477, or mail copies to the address below.

Give them a copy of the death certificate as well as the needed AS mileage plan names and numbers for transferring from/to. In our case it was transferred spouce/spouce. No fees, it was done in about 24 hrs.
Again I can not say enough about how good Alaska was to work with.
