Was given one flying back HBO from Venice the other week at the gate. I didn't hear an offer for people to check bags in exchange for early boarding, so not quite sure what the point of them was. It was a bus gate - so maybe the idea was to ensure group 1/2/3 got to keep their bags, even if they weren't actually first on the plane due to the buses mixing all the groups up anyway. Not too sure.
