What I've read is:
(1) Can pay $50 fee to turn BE ticket into a FFC (which might not be usable on non-BE fares).
(2) Or upgrade BE ticket to a regular ticket.
(a) Cancel regular ticket into an FFC.
(b) Change it to a flight (until Jun 2025, end of bookable calendar).
Perhaps someone who's tried these can help.
P.S. As aacharya writes, "
Wait until close in to cancel as you may get a travel.waiver." which may allow full refund.
