Yes, options from London are cheaper than the regions, but for myself using MAN or BHX as a start point allows cheap and quick train travel direct to the airport. Travel to London airports is neither cheap nor quick for me. Luckily SAS has CPH and ARL as hubs and those give me more interesting options than transiting LHR for a change
