United has moved JFK-SFO and JFK-LAX mostly to the new three class of service planes. JetBlue has been adding flights to LA area and Bay area destinations. I think Delta has jumped in to try and find a market niche to keep share in these markets with a service to go beyond just biz travellers. Is Song a bit less comfortable than BE? Yes for sure. But as a very tall and somewhat wide body who flies Song a lot, Song is not too bad - United Economy Plus pitch with plenty of entertainment to make time fly. The only wrinkle I see is that the "buy your food, one drink for free" may not work too well on a six hour flight.
