Just a quick update, it seems that there is some large event when we [well, my other half] will be to Duxford, 13-14 September 2024, so perhaps folks will wish to plan accordingly. My husband, for whom this is a birthday trip prior to a transatlantic crossing, is beyond thrilled and has basically blocked out both days to ogle aeroplanes and things. To each their own.
Advice of where to stay has been much helpful: thank you all. We booked into the Fellows Curio Collection in Cambridge. I would very appreciate any restaurant ideas: something that showcases English seasonal products and traditions - beyond fish & chips tho -would be most welcome: I like to taste the foods of a place I visit and learn more about culinary history, geography, habits/customs, etc. And also tips for what to do while the better half is enthralled at aircraft in Duxford for 48hr and I wander the streets of Cambridge (I could not care less about all that, TBH).
