The overlapping stay rule is a pretty hard line and arguing that may be fruitless. But have you asked them to at least remove the 4 night stay from your account so that the 5 night stay can credit instead? Doesn't give you the full nights actually stayed in both hotels of course but it's 25% more than you've got currently.
