Sorry, I only have a 3MP Olympus so I don't have a recommendation for the camera but regarding your requirement for "awesome battery life" I doubt that any digital cameras fit that bill. If you don't already use rechargeables you should definitely consider getting a charger and enough batteries to power the camera 3 or 4 times. My camera only takes 2 AA so 8 batteries are usually more than sufficient unless I am on a long trip in which case I travel with the charger too (they are pretty small).
