I agree with the comments re Molton Brown. The stuff is ubiquitous now. The fact that Bridgepoint Capital, the private equity house, bought the business in 2003 should not give any hope that things will get better. There is also a move towards all-natural products at the premium end, and MB could not be further away from this as any look at the ingredients panel on a MB product will tell you! Westin Hotels ditched MB last year.
I got some nice Hermes mini-toiletries at a hotel last year, and this may be the way to go. Not very British, however!
I don't feel sorry for LV the same as i don't feel sorry for burberry. Obvious logoing and promotion through rap videos etc. they knew exactly what they were doing and what market(and profits) they would attract.
Re: Molton Brown i have always thought their products are rubbish, and have never seen the appeal, maybe only in their "British-ness" appeal to foreign travellers.
