Too true. I am amazed that anyone would pay £600 for a LV weekend bag when a) (if female) people will believe they are a chavvy secretary and b) that it is from Romford market.
I kind of feel sorry for LV because they go to huge lengths to keep their product exclusive (they never have sales, they do not sell through duty free) but are failing dismally!
I agree with the comments re Molton Brown. The stuff is ubiquitous now. The fact that Bridgepoint Capital, the private equity house, bought the business in 2003 should not give any hope that things will get better. There is also a move towards all-natural products at the premium end, and MB could not be further away from this as any look at the ingredients panel on a MB product will tell you! Westin Hotels ditched MB last year.
I got some nice Hermes mini-toiletries at a hotel last year, and this may be the way to go. Not very British, however!
