One aspect that really adds to customer frustration is the rolling nature of the cancellations. Seems like Delta has no idea how many flights they'll be able to complete each day and are just winging it as they go along.
Using LAX-SFO as an example, they ended up cancelling 6 out of 7 flights on Sunday, but passengers were told that their flight would be delayed multiple times, only to be ultimately canceled, and then rebooked on another flight to repeat the cycle.
Many passengers have enough flexibility to rearrange their plans if you tell them before they head to the airport.
Btw the only other carrier to cancel a flight on this route on Sunday was that other premier airline...Frontier 🤨
