I just chatted with the KLM chat feature and found out we can't even get a quote for an upgrade to Business from our Economy Plus seats until we check in. At that time we may be offered the chance to buy up to Business Class.

Seat Map is quite open right now for Economy, I know lots of folks don't get seats assigned until later, so I know better than to think my flight is really this empty. Map has Business grayed out, if that means anything.

Is there really no way to get a quote to upgrade our seats? Flights are LAX/AMS/NBO and JRO/AMS/LAX in about a month.
