DCA to EWR is better done on AMTRAK. Pre 9/11 I used to fly down to cover football and baseball games, post 9/11 AMTRAK took less time, cost less and I could get more sleep going down and do more editing coming home.
That oft made comparison ignores the fact that many people on DCA-EWR flights have plans take other flights that depart from within the secure area of EWR (I.e. not the Amtrak station)..
