BAJames, as BA Silver you have access to QANTAS Club lounges on domestic flights even travelling in Y. As to the seat selection as QANTAS travelling on BA we have to book first (where it offers paid seat selection), so you don't choose a seat, then we have to go back once booked and we'll have free seat selection options, maybe it works the same for BA status holders with QANTAS...
