It’s been 12 months since I flew transatlantic in business with Aer Lingus.
I flew DUB-MCO yesterday and managed to get 3K. The seat was grand when upright but a little cramped in full lie flat. Having said that, I did manage to sleep 3.5 hours which was excellent. My wife and young daughter were in 4H and 4K. My older daughter was in 5K. None of them slept but all loved their assigned seats. So score for seating was a 9/10.
Entertainment system is a 10/10. Hard to fault. Very easy to use.
The crew were what EI are well known for. They were friendly, polite and attentive. I’d score them a 10/10. Being Concierge helps as the Senior came to me and my family first to take our order so as to ensure we all got what we wanted.
Now, what came as the biggest surprise, the quality of the food. Over the years I must have flown about 30+ times in business with EI and based on the food offering, it was certainly the best in memory. Crab for starter, braised beef for main and strawberry mousse for dessert were all delicious. The light snack at the end of the meal was a beef slider and 3 little cakes. Altogether, EI have certainly improved the food offering and I would give it a 10/10. My kids told me that mid flight the crew came around with yummy ice cream but I can’t comment as I was asleep 😴.
The same can’t be said of the wine which was average. I’d score it a 5/10.
Flight time was 8:15 and a very smooth flight. Free WiFi worked perfectly.
51st and Green is OK. It was busy yesterday morning. Honestly, I don’t see what all the fuss is about this place. A quiet Aer Club lounge in the terminal is a nicer place IMHO.
One final point. I’d take a 330 any day of the week over a 321.
