In 2016 and 2017 churned the Hawaiian personal card twice each year. Kept each account open for just two or three months, seems at that time the limitation was 3 months between account closure and approval of a new application. In 2018 I was only approved for one new personal card, seems at that time they changed the limitation to one year (between closure and new approval).
Due to Chase 5/24, I changed to Hawaiian business cards in 2021 at which time the limitation was 2 years from closure to new approval. In 2022, after a recon call, I was able to get an approval approximately 18 to 20 months after previous closure. In 2023, I was unable to get an approval during or after a recon call, I was told that that time that the two year limitation had become nonnegotiable. My last approval was a couple of months ago, approximately 25 months after most recent closure.
Barclays recon calls are notoriously challenging, pretty close to fighting windmills, even more so during the past 3 to 5 years.
(Yes, I keep very detailed records. I have a record of the year I opened everyone of my approximately 280 credit cards going back to 1985 and the exact date of application for the past 15 years when I became a frequent flyer nut job/SUB addict. Feel free to call me anal, I consider it a compliment, I think any doctor and any pilot (private or commercial) should most definitely be anal.)
