once boarded asked for 11 volunteers with $2000 Amex card and said we wouldn’t get out until Tuesday.
I booked a sw flight that got in at midnight with some points.
while waiting for gift card email got on app and rebooked on delta 2 hours later.
that flight needed 24 volunteers and nabbed another $2000.
+$4000 and still getting in tonight.

sounds about right.... part of it is agents taking pity on folks and overbooking like nobody's business... part of it is them assuming people are going to miss their own connections because they know how dysfunctional their own system is right now...
