My NUA’s were rejected and upon check-in I was told I had been “upgraded” to a Club room, which had to be one of the worst rooms in the hotel. 122 was an accessible room in the back corner of the hotel directly above the staff entrance and smoke break area. A swinging door under the room audibly smacked back and forth constantly all day and into the evening and staff on ciggy breaks directly under the window contributed both audible and odor pollution! Of course I asked to move but another sold out hotel had no options apart from what I was given. The towels were noticeably stained and deteriorating as well.

This begs the question: how does one prevent receiving possibly the most undesirable room in the house? It can happen anywhere, and while someone can state in advance that they want a quiet location, that may not solve every issue.

We stayed here 2 June to 6 June on a combination of cert/points and cash, and while our room didn't have any view to speak of, (alley way) it otherwise was fine, towels clean and replaced daily, etc. Lounge breakfast was fine. Excellent location for us. Only issue I'd say is that the check in desks are at the back so you need to ask drivers to go there instead of the Piccadilly entrance. We'd stayed there once about 20 years ago in a non-refurbished room (it was huge) which also was still acceptable.
