Still, I'd be willing to do it. But only for a pretty much sure thing. The one and only reason I'd buy Hilton points right now, or change my existing nearly perfect Q suite award flights, is for Milaidhoo in high season. It seems like the risk is not negligible.
Always worrying about the worst possible outcome is no way to live life. I think it’s unlikely they would abandon so soon and I have to assume they’re getting a nice reimbursement rate from Hilton so it’s not as if they’re giving away free room and board.
Regardless, if the worst did happen, you can opt to pay cash or stay somewhere else. Lots of beautiful resorts in the Maldives.
I think the most probable outcome would be that Hilton would massively devalue SLH redemptions. There are many others out there that offering insane redemption value.
