I'm trying to book HKG-MEL return on Cathay's website, but of course it wants me to pay in HKD. I want to use my UK AMEX but would like to avoid the 2.99% foreign transaction fee.

Kayak will book the flight direct with CX in GBP sterling, but it doesn't accept AMEX.

Can anyone think of a workaround that doesn't involve using Expedia etc? Forcing the Cathay website to quote and bill in sterling perhaps?
