UA shows an IAH-CVG for sale at $584 in Economy, departing at 12:15 PM. Not sure what you paid for your DL flight but you could book the UA flight, see if it goes, and then have your DL flight refunded.

ETA: There's also some WN options HOU/IAH-XXX-CVG available. HOU-BWI-CVG is available for $224, departing HOU at 5:35 PM. HOU-AUS-CMH departing at 10:25 AM available for $499 and HOU-STL-CMH departing at 1:00 PM for $493.
