I used a Cat 1-7 certificate here the other night so I can update everyone on the property... (it was the first place I stayed in Singapore way back when)
The pros:
- Lots of eager staff everywhere to welcome and assist (except for the pool area, oddly)
- The Grand Club provides what was easily a full dinner between 6-8pm, several hot dishes, great salad, a few dim sum items, wines and some nice juice options (also a 2-4pm afternoon tea, though we just missed it so I'm not sure what was on offer)
- The gym is beautiful, one of the best I've ever seen at any hotel with top top top-of-the-line equipment (Apple Watch sync, wireless phone charging on all machines, multiple weight barbell racks, robotic sled, etc.)
- The pools are great - the main pool is one of the largest I've used at any hotel and very clean though perhaps a tad bit too warm
- The daybed is large and easily a free comfy bed for a child. They even had it made up nicely as a bed for us. This is the key reason we didn't stay at the Andaz which I enjoyed last summer when we were without our son, as they don't allow rollaways in their base award room, and they charge $100 as a fee if you do get a larger room and want one.
The cons:
- With limited premium rooms and no standard suites, upgrades will be tough for Globalists (I was surprised we didn't get even a Deluxe room as they were available the day before)
- The gym is officially off-limits to those under 16. It wasn't mentioned on the first day, but on the second day they didn't want to let my son in. He's a competitive athlete and plays on two rep sports teams, so we exercise together daily. I would understand if it was perhaps parental supervision required, or 12+ etc. but this is quite unfriendly to young athletes and families. (Understand we don't want kids running around and being silly in the gym, but this isn't that)
- No bathtub in the basic rooms if you like a bath
- Spa, steam, etc. and other restaurants aren't open yet, just the main buffet restaurant
- Still renovations of the main tower going on and fixes around the hotel, they were painting some type of varnish on the gym/pool level when we were there and it smelled quite toxic for a bit
