On AC116 (YVR-YYZ) tomorrow, just got an email about it being 4h40m delayed, BUT the aircraft operating it was never going to arrive until 3 hours AFTER 116 was supposed to depart, so clearly they changed the assigned plane from YYZ to LHR. Any chance at compensation? This feels like AC made a decision to send the original 77W elsewhere as usually this flight incoming is AC189 (YYZ-YVR) and that plane in still on time so if they didn't change the plane, it should have been able to do 116 on time.
Whatever physical plane was initially assigned to this flight, matters exactly zero. AC makes frequent changes to manage those details all the time, and for all sorts of reasons.
The compensation question will depend on how late your actual flight (116) actually arrives, and the reason(s) for any delays (is it safety related, etc). The details are described on the
