Delays is also an understatement. A large amount of flights have been canceled and people are rebooked for tomorrow.
People around me on the 10:15 to Berlin were rebooked to 20:00 tomorrow evening.. Wouldn’t call that a delay.
To be fair, those cancellations are due to problems at BER
where all flights were suspended this morning and which seems to have been amongst the worst-affected airports globally.
You can see from the
BER website that, of the 54 flights scheduled to depart between 0820 & 1200, only 5 have so far departed. (And it's not that everything returned to normal at 1200 - it's just that I got tired of counting flights so stopped at noon)
Compared to a similar route - MUC - which has only had one cancellation, BER is indeed an outlier, but it's exacerbated due to the closure of BER this morning. (other 6-a-day routes, such as DUB and OSL, have also only had a single cancellation today; HAM - a 5-a-day route - has had neither cancellations or delays)
