For better or for worse (better IMO) Spanish residents flying Iberia (or revenue sharing partners TATL) have an advantage. Some other Oneworld FFPs give elite status away to people flying mostly on partners (QR, etc.) and/or lucky enough to live in places with cheaper J fares.
