Don't disagree, especially for the more experience passenger but in this case there appears to have been very little spare time. And for the less experience passenger the anxiety levels would increase on limited info -- but I doubt that was a factor, rather the flight deck was too busy in the very limited time available.
As it is common practice to provide the information, this is one of those rare cases the flight deck felt their focus needed to be elsewhere. Not sure this is particularly significant. Would not read this one incident as a snub to the passengers. I try not to overthink these corner cases.
