A couple of weeks ago I had a return itinerary booked through American of MUC > LHR (on BA) and LHR > LAX (on AA). The morning of the return flight, BA cancelled the MUC > LHR flight, and rebooked my entire itinerary home for 3 days later. I called into American and they were helpful in rebooking me on an itinerary a day later than my original flights, but I realized I still needed to be home the day of my original flights and so booked a direct flight on another airline.
I called into American to cancel the rebooked flight and they directed me to submit an online refund request for the return leg. I just logged in to see that my refund request was denied. When I called into American just now, they said I'd have to submit an online form to customer relations to review.
Is this my only recourse at this point? Any idea what might be going on here?
You were presented with the opportunity to accept the change or not accept the change, and you accepted the change. The original change presented you with the opportunity to cancel and receive a refund.
