Thanks. I am based in Memphis and travel 6 - 8 times a year, with about 50% of those being transatlantic trips. Before the pandemic I was upgraded regularly on domestic legs, but since then perhaps only 20% of the time. I would guess my LP earnings are about 60:40 in favor of flights vs credit card/other.
The reason I posited the original question is that on a recent vacation to Ireland and the UK, we used Chase points for two 5 day car rentals and 3 hotel nights. Since the former also included insurance coverage, I am guessing we saved $2k, and I believe that we only used ~60k in points. Quite a saving, especially since all of those points came from a sign up bonus.
I would be happy to spend/earn LP, but since upgrades are the real perk that are of value to me, I am not sure from what safari ari has indicated that it is worth it.
