The catch is that they the two flights are booked as separate reservations (vs AA FF miles) so Qatar won't be treating this as one reservation from IST-MLE but two independent trips. Not going to have any cabin luggage. Worried that without the reference of the first leg, we will be out of luck if there is a delay. Either way, what does everyone think about this 50 min layover? Crazy or doable?
Many thanks!
Connection stress has the potential to ruin at least the first leg of your trip, while the the second stands a significant chance of going down the pan.
I guess you want to stick with the DOH MLE first-class flight, so it might be an idea to neutralise the stress by taking an earlier flight from Istanbul. You could even consider travelling the day before, turning the connection into a (very) short break in a Doha hotel: the additional cost in miles and cancellation fees fades into insignificance compared to that of buying new, last-minute tickets to complete the trip.
Of course, you just
know that if you take any of those alternatives, fhe incoming flight will arrive early and you'll resent the advice you've been given in this thread
