Thanks for the detailed response. I admit, I neglected my account and forgot to check it regularly or to understand that there are two groups of miles.
Anyway, I thing I discovered a workaround. Please see item #2 below. Will it work???? Thanks.

1. I don't hold status in other airlines

2. Transferring my miles to my wife's account, gives her 2 years to use those miles! I confirmed it with the Flying Blue Rep today. Whew!!!! She has to be "Family Leader" (important step) in the group account. Once I accept the request for the Family Account, she can then draw those miles into her account. The miles can only be transferred 7 days after establishing the Family Account Relationship.

The Flying Blue Family leader is the only person who can transfer Miles from the Flying Blue Family members’ accounts. The Flying Blue Family leader can transfer Miles partially or in full. After each transfer, all Flying Blue Family Miles will be valid for two years. Miles transfers are final, and you will be notified by email if your Miles have been transferred.
