Just managed to finally get through and make a booking after the BA outage.
Agent told me the crash was due to BA trying to update this new tax structure on premium class redemptions while the system was online. The system crashed and the last two days are history.
Apparently the change in taxes for premium class was due to changes in APD. Didn't say why or how this impacted BA redemptions.
The IT department really is shocking. It's as if nothing's ever tested. Oh wait...
