In a similar situation to many of you - booked LHR to PVG and then onwards with ANA to Tokyo.
Spoke to Amex - all flights still showing as confirmed so unable to help and virgin have not been replying to queries from Amex
Ideally they would re-route onto BA as the BA flight times are almost identical, but think this is asking too much
Be interested to see what tortuous routes they come up with
There is China Airlines and China Eastern within the SkyTeam alliance, but looking on Google flights there are many other airlines that fly LHR - PVG (either direct or with connections en route). I find it hard to believe that there will not be capacity on these flights, as Virgin have blamed falling demand as the reason behind termination of this route, so there should, hopefully, be seats available.
