Most of the regulars here are already probably aware, but just in case, the BA forum has some very useful threads full of routes that are ideal for loading up on BA Tier Points. Of course these also work well for IB EPs. The North American routes are mostly on AA and AS. As a rule of thumb you can multiply the BA TPs in those threads by two to get a rough idea how many EPs you'll earn (but do the math on the IB site just to be sure, there are variations). There are some significant differences in EP earning between BA and IB, in some cases IB is more generous, so check the IB site to be sure.

The first fare listed in the NA thread gets you EPs at about 65 cents each, which beats the hell out of Puente Aéreo runs or similar.

It might be worthwhile to do an IB-specific thread too, because domestic flights may have some good opportunities.
