I am travelling with my wife and young son next month to Chicago and originally it was a 777-200 and we selected row 17 A, E and F with our son in E so we can both keep an eye on him.
However, with the aircraft switch to the 777-300, and studying Aerolopa, it looks like 18E and 18F might actually be better for my son and wife as 17A seems to have a better "view" into 18E.
Would anyone with familiarity of these seats let me know which they think would be best.
No seats really have "better" views into others since they're designed for visual privacy. The differences from varying offsets of the rows will be marginal at best.
You definitely want at least one parent on the same aisle as your son (so A+E or F+K) since switching sides will require walking through the galley or passageway. To that end, row 18 is a good choice since it's right in front of the crossover. It probably also makes sense to have an E+F pair to be able to somewhat easily reach into the seat, eg during meal service.
I'm not sure there's much value in the A seat, though. You might actually consider something like 17E+F and 18F, where your son takes 17F and one parent is behind him in 18F. This would make it pretty easy to see if he gets up, and also, you can sort of reach into the seat from behind (while standing). You don't say how young he is, but if he needs help going to the toilet I'd put him on the F side since that aisle has the wheelchair accessible (ie: larger) toilet.

It can get a bit noisy during meal service (and after when everything is put away), and also you have to pass through the galley to get to the toilets. If you want something quieter I'd go with the middle of the main J section.
