Standard is not high end in my book - and has never been, nor was it intended to be in my book. Standard under founder André Balasz' concept appeared to be affordable design for a young clientele. I still fondly remember the front desk decor in the original West Hollywood motel conversion...

I also have a hard time envisioning Standard being Hyatt's competitor to EDITION. That would be Thompson in my book (and/or Andaz).
