We used to fly ex-EU to Taiwan via HKG every year on BA in CW.

After Covid, the prices on BA were crazy so we few Cathay as it was much cheaper (from CDG). Since then, BA has always been more expensive than Cathay from any UK/EU airport and hence we've not flown long-haul on BA since. Unless BA reduce the prices to be lower than Cathay's, that's not going to change for us.

As an aside, we used to stop over in HKG for a few days, which was never bookable on BA's website so I had to phone. It kind of is now (if you don't mind being forced to choose from a limited number of Cathay's HKG - TPE flights) but we've gone off Hong Kong as a destination anyway. It's lost its buzz.
