What are the choice for boozy drinks at the evening happy hour? Unlikely as it seems, are the food options at the lounge good enough to skip dinner out in Georgetown?
The Marriott rates begin at about 50% higher than the Courtyard and scale up from there, so I wouldn't say "easily twice the price"
Also, it's very misleading to call this "out of town". While it isn't in the historical George Town district, it's only a ~10 ringgit Grab ride away. There are many many good dining options in the Gurney Drive area where this hotel is located. I've stayed at the Courtyard for more than 20 weeks over the last year (along with coworkers), and we've eaten at the Gurney Drive malls as much or more than any other area.
Anyway, staying at the Marriott for my next trip, so I will report back here to compare with the Courtyard.
