The majority of my flying is BA or other European airlines but probably take around 15 flights per year with AA. I am also accustomed to and accept there are safety differences between the US and Europe eg US carriers are much more inclined to have the seat belt sign on for long periods inflight at even the slightest sign of minor turbulence. The US approach in relation to window blinds at take off and landing (whether the US or European system is better I am not qualified to judge)
Taking the above into account having taken 8 flights with AA over the last month the apparent lack of concern for safety by AA crew has surprised me. At least 3 occasions out of 8 crew failed to secure the cabin before landing with cabin crew instead chatting in the galley. Specifics - still having glasses and china from the meal service at seats on landing such that I have to hold onto glass wear and china to stop them flying across the cabin on touchdown. No enforcement for seats being in the take off and landing position. My most recent A321 transcon flight had under half the seats showing the green landing position confirmation light with crew not appearing to care or interested in checking. No visible check that passengers are wearing a seat belt.
Have I just been unlucky recently with poor crew in terms of safety or is the AA claim crew are principally there for your safety now just a myth. In the past I have found flight attendants much more diligent with regards safety. Do AA audit their cabin crew to ensure safety procedures are actually being followed?
Service items not being cleared for landing and F/A's allowing reclined seats at take-off and landing are definitely egregious violations that are not typical. I urge you to report these specific issues because (and to answer your final question) AA does not audit their cabin crew.
