I think without GE 1h30 wouldn't be enough, so that might seal the deal. I'd normally book BA where the alternative was AA for the reasons mentioned, generally nicer experience in CS and the crew tend to be a bit more engaging. But AA is perfectly OK and a more direct routing is generally helpful, connections seem a better idea when booking than when you get off a transatlantic long haul, queue for immigration, and hit the fatigue wall.
