Not yet. I've started by tweeting them, and tagging the ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission) as what they are doing is almost certainly against the ACCC's rules on loyalty programs. Their requirements for changes like this require Hertz to "provide existing members with prominent and timely advance notice and a genuine opportunity to redeem their existing point balance". Clearly giving 5.5 months notice for me to use up what amounts to 6 weeks of car rental doesn't meet that requirement.
The email mentions that Canada is excluded from the 5 year rule - my plan is to try and get Australia added to that list. Unfortunately of course that won't help most of the rest of you...
