I hear what you're saying about points - it's a factor for sure. I'm just not a fan of long haul flights and like to break up the journey. The Finnair option has a 4 hour wait in HEL before connecting to LHR and so it would be a brutal day. I haven't completely decided which to go for yet and will probably decide in the next couple of days.
The points can definitely be a factor, but as AY is getting more and more stingy with their Adios points and they are worth less and less, I think that other things should weigh a lot more:
- Gulf; you break up your journey roughly in the middle, which is a lot nicer than one superlong flight in Y
- Gulf; you will get better food on board; and those flights are long & you will get hungry, so it matters
- Gulf; it's a long time since I went to Bahrain, but it was interesting and if you haven't been to the Gulf area, or if you've only been to Dubai, I am sure Bahrain is an experience in itself; I could very well see myself revisiting the country one day
