EK 777 J was almost acceptable a decade ago... now its the laughing stock of its competitors... maybe EK will blink when every other airline, however cheap, has a better offering.
That said, back in the day, I sat in the dreaded middle seat, on a few long haul flights ... but only when travelling in a group of three (and in the front mini cabin). If I'd been travelling solo, I would have simply chosen a different airline, no question, no hesitation!
Of course it’s ’not good’ and I agree that this is an understatement.
But in the cold light of day, on my ‘regular’ CPT/DXB vv route, the load in J is always 80-100%. So there is no real business incentive for EK to put fewer people in the same space. It’s more ‘reputational’ than anything else.
I can fly QR, but these days that is 25% more expensive than EK. `And the schedule is not as convenient. And I run the risk I don’t get the QSuite…. So I put up with my ‘A’ or ‘K’ seat (I have almost always managed to get one, usually in row 6 or 7). I can sleep OK in those seats. And I get CD on top of it. And every now and then I splash out and upgrade to F, either with miles or cash.
Looking forward to 1-2-1 in future, but seat is only one factor in deciding my airline.
