It says it's ticketed when I look at it on the AA website and it has a ticket number. Is there something else I should be looking at? Aren't J and D both revenue fare classes? It was originally J (looking at the original confirmation email). And my return flight, which they didn't mess with, is still J.
Yea, currently all dynamic priced AA awards book into J initially. When the agent rebooked you they just rebooked you into D. Nothing to worry about, I had the exact same thing happen last year on an irrops rebooking on a business award. If it's ticketed and you have the ticket number then you're all set.
Also since AA moved to awarding miles/LP's based on fare the old "glitch" whereby you would sometimes earn miles for award bookings that get rebooked has all but gone away. So in spite of being rebooked into a revenue fare code you still won't earn any miles, AA knows this was an award ticket regardless of what the booking code shows.
