Swiss customer service gimmicks

Our flight LX 22 on July 4th was cancelled after taxiing on the runway twice because of computer problems. By the time it was midnight so there was very little service at the airport.

The team on the ground said that there was no hotel vouchers or rooms available, no meal vouchers and no transport available and that we had to figure it ourselves and we would get refunded. I went back by Uber to Westchester (179$) and claimed this and the return cab (similar amount).

I realize this was just gimmicks, that they dont want to offer anything upfront and then just refund joke amounts. This is the response I got

Your flight LX23 of 4 July 2024 unfortunately had to be canceled due to an unexpected flight safety shortcoming. On behalf of SWISS and its cooperation partners, I apologize for the inconvenience you had as a result.

The aircraft scheduled to operate the rotation had a flight control primary computer fault and later auto pilot fault.

Safety is SWISS first priority. We consider the described flight cancelation necessary and the irregularity to be extraordinary circumstances. These could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken. Therefore, I must deny your claim for compensation in application of regulation EC261/2004.

However, in case of flight cancelation, SWISS of course contributes to the direct costs incurred by our guests (e.g. for meals, beverages, accommodation if required).

I hope you understand that we can only reimburse reasonable costs.

I have checked the documents you have submitted and can inform you that SWISS will contribute to the expenses you have reported and reimburse you EUR 100.00.

In essence at midnight an uber from JFK would have brought us maximum to the middle of queens (and thats one way). How is this reasonable compensation?

It looks from the EC 261 evastion thread that Swiss is bad and doesnt care. But what are the options? DOT? OPAC? Small courts? class action ?
